ABOUT THE ARTIST

Barry Dominick is an accomplished plein air painter known for capturing the beauty of nature, and the energy and character of rural and urban architecture. He seeks to convey the atmosphere and mood of each scene on his canvas. Inspired by the play of light and shadow, Barry strives to evoke a sense of immediacy and spontaneity in his work.

 

Barry is a native of rural northwest Louisiana. Growing up surrounded by the natural beauty of bayous, the Red River, towering pines and fertile farmland, he was inspired to make art from an early age. In his early years, he pursued photography. Later in life, he began painting and developed an affinity for painting with oil en plein air.

 

In 2024, Barry retired early from a forty-year career in the financial services industry to pursue full-time his passion for making art. He is a self-taught artist based in Dallas, Texas. Barry holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington.
